The intelligence threat from foreign powers – Swedish technology an attractive target.

Representatives from the Security Service’s counter-espionage department will discuss the threat from foreign powers in the form of intelligence operations as well as unauthorized technology and knowledge acquisition in Sweden:

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has fundamentally changed the European security order and the security situation in Sweden. Russia is today the single largest threat to Sweden and constitutes both a military threat in Sweden’s vicinity and a threat to Sweden’s internal security. In addition to Russia, China and Iran also engage in intelligence operations and activities threatening security in and against Sweden.

Sweden, being at the forefront of technology and innovation, is an attractive target for acquisition. Several countries engage in unauthorized technology and knowledge acquisition in Sweden. The acquisition threat primarily comes from Russia and China, but Iran also engages in technology acquisition in Sweden.

The war in Ukraine has created a significant need for Russia for technology and equipment to maintain its military capability. It is therefore important that as many as possible contribute to counteracting and complicating further Russian technology acquisition for military purposes. Session in Swedish *
