Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has fundamentally changed the European security order and the security situation in Sweden. Russia is today the single largest threat to Sweden and constitutes both a military threat in Sweden’s vicinity and a threat to Sweden’s internal security. In addition to Russia, China and Iran also engage in intelligence operations and activities threatening security in and against Sweden.
Sweden, being at the forefront of technology and innovation, is an attractive target for acquisition. Several countries engage in unauthorized technology and knowledge acquisition in Sweden. The acquisition threat primarily comes from Russia and China, but Iran also engages in technology acquisition in Sweden.
The war in Ukraine has created a significant need for Russia for technology and equipment to maintain its military capability.
